Sprint Duathlon 2012 – Qualifiers ?????

We’re still no nearer OFFICIALLY finding out the 2012 Sprint Duathlon Qualifiers? Well…

ITU SPRINT Duathlon Qualification Dates Have **Not** yet (Dec 2012) been announced as the ITU have not agreed a World SPRINT Champs event. However the BTF say that any SPRINT qualifiers that may come to pass will NOT clash with the qualifiers for the STANDARD distance. The standard qualifiers are in the following list and so by a process of elimination we can dismiss certain SPRINT events which fall on the same dates as these standard qualifiers (presumably also events on the same weekend):

• 10/3 Dambuster, Midlands
• 24/3 Oulton Park Duathlon, North West
• 15/4 Cambridge Duathlon, Eastern
• 28/4 Ashbourne Duathlon, Midlands

So here in the following list are some other events which may OR MAY NOT end up being SPRINT qualifiers. If you could let me know which SPRINT DUATHLON events I missed out that would be great and I ‘ll update this list. In the list I would say the Big Cow is a certain qualifier and maybe the 15/4 Dorney but the rest all clash or are on probably unsuitable dates. Then again even the Big Cow distance is ‘wrong’ but I think this is a new event for them and they are centrally placed for many people to get to relatively easily. I would have thought the Clumber Sprint would be a great qualifier but the dates clash so in theory it won’t be one of the qualifiers.

• 24/3 Clumber SPRINT  5:20:2.5 (Clash)
• 25/3 British Elite Champs  5:20:2.5 (Clash)
• 25/3 Oxfordshire Short Course 5:20:3 (Clash)
• 25/3 Goodwood  4:24:4 (Clash)
• 1/4 Newent April Fools Duathlon 5:20:5 (No clash)
• 8/1 Big Cow 5205 Duathlon 5:20:5 (No clash)

21 October   Chilham Castle KENT Duathlons  5:27:2.5 (too late)
