There seems to be a pattern happening here. I spend 3 months getting fit and then have do a couple of races and then try to break all my PBs.
The problem is that I have to taper quite a bit for each effort and as I do I rest and get progressively less fit as the weeks go by. If I try to train without tapering then I can’t do a PB!
Oh well this week and a bit of wind and 3 laps of Richmond Park in sunny SW London beckon. Sub 55 minutes? Maybe not this time.
Still I’ve managed on 5k PB this year as well as a few of my shorter cycling PBs. Not bad.
