UPDATE: Dec 2012 – ETU and Welsh National Champs Info

Well this year the BTF have done an amazing job of organizing and announcing the 2013 events for Duathlon and Triathlon. Timely and comprehensive information covering all the variants of triathlon/duathlon…great job. The info is below – note there is rationalisation and some events are now handed down to the Home Nations…neat!

The event in London will enable home based age-group athletes the opportunity to compete in front of friends and family and showcase Britain at its best, sharing our Olympic legacy with the sporting public as one of the first World Championships to take place in Great Britain since this summer’s London 2012 Olympic Games.

The 2013 British Triathlon Age-Group Major Events Programme includes the qualification events for the Great Britain Age-Group Team, which will compete in London.  Great Britain has a successful tradition in major championships having won over 200 age-group medals including 76 gold, in 2011; next year the Great Britain Age-Group Team aims to continue that medal-winning tradition by sending our largest ever team, with a target of 1,000 athletes.

Ian Braid, British Triathlon Director for Major and National Events commented: “With one year to go, it’s fantastic to be able to announce the British Age-Group Championships and qualification events for the Great Britain Age-Group Team. The ITU World Triathlon Series Grand Final in 2013 is a key part of our legacy from the Olympics this year and will provide another opportunity for the British public to support our world-class athletes and for our outstanding Great Britain Age-Group Team to race in the iconic setting of Hyde Park.”

British Triathlon and event organiser Upsolut Sports UK are currently finalising the details of the 2013 ITU World Triathlon Series Grand Final in London with more information to be released following the Grand Final in Auckland.
