London – Tuesday 17 March: Building on the success of the US launch in October 2014, Microsoft today announced that Microsoft Health and Microsoft Band will be launching in the UK on 15 April. Designed as the first device for the Microsoft Health platform, Microsoft Band is a smart band that provides a balance of living healthier and being more productive.
Microsoft Health is an open cloud-based service that helps you live a healthier lifestyle by providing actionable insights based on data gathered from the fitness devices and apps that you use every day. Microsoft Health has partnered with existing fitness services such as RunKeeper, MyFitnessPal, MapMyfitness and Microsoft HealthVault. For UK launch, we are excited to announce a unique partnership with Nuffield Health, who are leaders in fitness and wellbeing. This will offer goal-based workouts created specifically for Microsoft Band and integrates Microsoft Band data into Nuffield HealthScoreTM – an app that converts body and lifestyle data into an easy-to-understand number.
The Microsoft Band encourages you to live healthier by tracking your heart rate, calorie burn and sleep quality alongside comprehensive fitness features such as on-board GPS for run and cycle tracking. It also includes Guided Workouts, which is like having a personal trainer on your wrist. In addition, the Microsoft Band helps you be more productive with calendar alerts, email previews and access to Cortana with Windows Phone. The Microsoft Band is cross-platform, working across Windows Phone, iOS and Android Phones*.
Leila Martine, Director of New Devices at Microsoft UK, said: “The launch of Microsoft Health and Microsoft Band in the UK signifies an exciting step on our journey in the emerging wearables category. Most importantly, we are looking forward to offering a first-rate fitness experience that will help UK users to live both a healthier and more productive life each day, no matter which smartphone they use.”
