PowerTap’s P1 pedal-based power meters look super interesting, completing the company’s offering over several locations for power measurement.

This makes sense as different riders have different needs for measuring power in different places; potentially over multiple bikes..

These are Bluetooth SMART and ANT+ compatible and firmware updateable. Sensible.

The battery is a 60 hour AAA battery which can be easily user-replaced. Low but the ease of replacing makes up for that.

Cleats are LOOK KEO. Oh well, a cleat is a cleat I guess.

Weight is a little on the heavy side at just under 400g; 50g more than Garmin Vectors.

There’s not dangly-bit like on the Garmin Vector, perhaps increasing the user’s confidence for MTB riding. That’s good.

One key differentiator though is the installation. You just put them on like you do with normal pedals. No special torque wrench required; just a spanner. Super cool.

Sounds great, they’re going to be somewhere around the £850 mark, which is a little steep.
