AXGIO Sprint Bluetooth Headset Review

The AXGIO Sprint Bluetooth Headset comes nicely packaged and, at about £30, nicely priced too.

I wouldn’t normally review an accessory like this, there are several other brands offering similar products. However with the announcement of the TomTom Spark running watch (with music) it is BLUETOOTH headphones like the AXGIO that are going to come in very handy and they are sensibly priced for a mass market.

Opening up the box you get a micro USB charger cable (doesn’t appear to transmit data when used with other devices) which nicely charges into the volume control unit (that is part of the wired headphones), this always struck me as the most sensible place to charge such devices – contrast to the JABRA Pulse Sport which charges into the earbud itself. In the photo above you can see the USB cable plugged in (not fully inserted – deliberately).

As shown below you also get PLENTY of replaceable earbuds of various sizes. The ones supplied will fit pretty much any size ears, including small children’s ears (10 year old type ages).

Here’s a close-up of the earbud as well as the control unit. They look nice and once you figure out how exactly to get them in and around your ears they stay in place really well.

CONNECTIVITY

The headset EASILY paired to a smartphone or two and, as is normal with this kind of device, you can take control of phone audio – either music- or call-audio. Gloriously I still haven’t had to open the manual to figure out how to do something.

SOUND QUALITY

The sound quality was fine and on par with what you would expect from a £30 pair of ear buds.

OTHER

It’s IPX4 waterproof and the battery life is over 7 hours, requiring 2 hours of charging.

Note it is specified for Bluetooth 4.1, it also appears to be backwardly compatible with Bluetooth 4.0 (Bluetooth SMART, Bluetooth Low Energy, BTLE, BLE)

BUYING

You can get a pair (here) – £29 in September 2015.
