“Garmin Connect Extends Supported Platforms” is a cunning title. It omits the word ‘windowsphone’ – as many of you use iOS and Android the mere mention of the windows phone may well have put you off.
However, IMO, it’s great that Garmin have announced support for the WINDOWSPHONE 10 platform, there are not so many vendors who support WINDOWSPHONE, iOS and Android. Garmin is now one of them. Good for them.
Of course it’s NOT about 630 or 920 or 820 users being supported. This is about the mass market. This is about allowing just about anyone to buy devices like the VIVOSMART HR, knowing it will work on whatever their mobile smartphone happens to be.
So a welcome move, a good move and probably a wise move too. Nice.
My only reticence would be that it only appears to be intended for Windows(phone) 10 and I am not sure on the adoption rate of that new OS version – though longterm it will be fine no doubt.

AFAIK Almost all Windows 8 mobile devices will be able to upgrade to windows 10 so im pretty sure that Windows will have a similar adoption rate to iOS (as opposed to Android!)
Good news for the update, hopefully others will follow soon as well as I personally quite like the look of Windows 10, its just the lack of app support holding it back at the moment
+1, yes I hope many follow suit, interestingly Microsoft was one of the first to offer to support all 3 OSs with the BAND last year.
I upgraded my PC to win10 and wished I hadn’t due to slight buggyness and a few other things. It WAS good to escape the tiles – although they could be avoided in win8/8.1 with a bit of digging around. However the tiles work well on smartphones, IMO. I think that a lot of windowsphone 8 users are corporate, so (if my thought is true) updates/adoption will depend on the policies of firms’ IT departments. As you say I agree that many of ‘the general public’ will go for their free upgrades.
