So the Polar M200 running watch is likely to hit the shops in October/November with the latest public FCC filing.
ESSENTIAL READING: Product Released / Announced
This will probably compete in the same battleground as the recent Garmin FR35.
The Polar looks like it will be nicely specified. I would imagine it will have:
- Optical HR
- Accelerometer for indoor treadmill use and cadence
- GPS
- Bluetooth to Polar FLOW APP/WEB
I would imagine a sub-Garmin price tag of somewhere around GBP135/USD155.
But how does that compare to the new TomTom runner3 at GBP120-190/USD130-250? It looks like TomTom will be providing a great base level price/feature combo. Polar would most likely best compete if this is another AndroidWear device like the recently announced Polar M600 (I hope so, but suspect not).
anyway the bottom line is that the low end of the running watch market now features major players all offering the ‘proper’ and ‘necessary’ bits of hardware (as listed above). Nice. Finally.
Compared to where the m400 sits this looks pretty basic, only two buttons? but it is nice to see them adopt a round watch. Hope the true m400 or V800 replacements go the same way
touchscreen?
