Garmin Consolidate Step Activity

Gadget-encrusted step-counters worldwide will rejoice at Garmin’s just-announced move to enable Garmin Connect to consolidate steps from different devices every day. The new feature is called TrueUp and it will also synchronise the current GRAND TOTAL to a single preferred device of your choice.

With a hilarious play on words, below, they also announced today that STEPS DATA can be migrated across from FITBIT. Nice.

That’s it. You can get back to work now.

This month, we’ve got all new ways to consolidate your data from different activity trackers, as well as handy features like data integration and TrueUp that puts more function right at your fingertips.

TrueUp Your Data¹ : Switch between activity trackers and continue to get the most up-to-date data like step count, calories burned, flights of stairs climbed and intensity minutes! TrueUp allows you to choose a preferred device that displays the grand total on your wrist. That preferred device will always show up-to-date data even if you went for a walk or run with another activity tracker. For example, if you run with your Forerunner 235 each morning and then change into a vívosmart HR for the office, Garmin Connect will collect the total amount of activity for the entire day and show it listed in your preferred activity tracker.

Fit a Bit of Data: If you’ve taken the step to switch to a Garmin activity tracker, you won’t lose your previous data! We now have a way to fit a bit of your old tracker’s data into your new one.

¹TrueUp is available on the following devices: vívosmart HR, vívosmart HR+, vívoactive HR, fēnix 3, fēnix 3 HR, fēnix Chronos, Forerunner 35, 230, 235, 630 and 735XT, vívofit 3, Approach S20 and X40, D2 Bravo, tactix Bravo and quatix 3.

  1. It’s a bummer that Garmin can’t display the total on ALL of your Garmin devices. I have a Fitbit band and watch and somedays I will wear the watch most of the time, others the band… but in either case the totals are always accurate on BOTH devices. I find it absurd I have to pick a single Garmin device to show the summarized totals… if I want to spend big $$$$ in the Garmin ecosystem by buying multiple products why limit me?
