Since its founding in 2002, Clever Training broadened its target market out from its original triathlon base to cover many other sports and pastimes.
JackRabbit run about 60 US-based apparel/shoe stores
To me, the match between JackRabbit and Clever Training looks highly complementary. The former specialising in sports apparel and sports shoes and the latter covering sports tech and other gear. Sounds like a merger than can leverage each other’s similar customer base with each other’s different product sets.
The deal was announced on May 15th, 2018 and JackRabbit is itself part of the portfolio of businesses owned by CriticalPoint Capital (CPC) of Manhattan Beach, California. CPC recently bought JackRabbit in March 2017.
CPC say about themselves “CPC’s preferred investments are corporate divestures, companies in a state of transition, and special situations.”

My favourite kit and nutrition
- Maurten — the race nutrition trusted by elite athletes. Gels and drink mix engineered to be easy on the stomach.
- Garmin 90-degree charging adapter — the small adapter that keeps your charging cable tidy at the stem. Essential for race day.
- Garmin charging puck — the fastest and most reliable way to top up your Garmin before a session.
- Ravemen FR300 — front light that mounts directly under your Garmin or Wahoo head unit. Keeps your bars clean and your beam pointed where it matters.
- Garmin Varia RTL515 — radar rear light that alerts you to vehicles approaching from behind. Pairs with your Edge or Garmin watch.
- Stryd — the footpod that brings running power to your Garmin. The single most useful running upgrade I have made.
- Favero Assioma Pro RS2 — the power meter pedals most serious cyclists end up choosing. Accurate, easy to move between bikes.

This is great! I hope DC rainmaker continues his partnership too because I would love discounts on running shoes
No doubt you can buy your sport electronics through my partners and your sports apparel though his 😉
No changes planned. Or at least, no bad changes that I’ve seen yet in discussions. Within ~45 days you’ll start to see the running shoe inventory available through CT. 🙂
Yes I’m now very tempted to put all my running shoe business your way and may well upgrade my DCR Supporter status from Supporter to VIP with your $4.99 VIP Program. You might even get the odd gadget sale out of me if my amazon gift card fund gets any lower. You’ve gotta get those shoes in the UK first tho.
Thanks for the support! Not sure if you saw earlier in the week but there was a code for Supporters to get free VIP status. Note the UK doesn’t need it though (no MAP funkiness). Unfortunately, said US code expired back mid-week.
Yeah, there’s definite interest in getting the UK site bigger. So hopefully that happens!
