Here is the latest change with a whopping jump from v10.10 to v11.0 with nothing really added. Strange that. Even though 10.55beta had GPS swim fixes in the GPS FW, these seem not to be mentioned in v11.0
Changes made from version 10.10 to 11.00:
- Fixed an issue where Heart Rate broadcast would stop working after 10 seconds if returning to the watch face from the Sensors and accessories menu.
- Fixed an issue where GPS related training options were accessible from certain indoor sports.
- Fixed an issue where the device could crash when processing malformed activity files.
- Fixed an issue where certain settings changes on device were not making it to Garmin Connect as expected.
- Fixed an issue where the interval pace data field could be dashed out during a Pool Swim activity.
- Fixed an occasional issue where the displayed lengths or distance during a pool swim could briefly show incorrect values.
- Fixed Swim PR issue.
- (as comments below, GPS OWS fix came through in GPS FW)
I think something else is in the air. (Edit: see comment below, and this has nothing to do with Phil Collins 😉 )
Either that or I deserve a medal for the image above taken a few days ago showing 11.0. C’mon people…coincidence? #conspiracytheory.

The open water swimming fix was not in Beta 10.55, but in GPS FW 2.24, wich was bundled with Beta 10.55. Then two weeks ago GPS FW 2.30 was publicly rolled out which includes the open water swimming fix. So everyone on Firmware 11 should already have it.

Something in the air like the 945?
Take this with a grain of salt, but I was just at Best Buy and there was a Garmin rep there that said the 945 would be out between 11/1 and 11/15, “right before the holidays.”
Now, I am usually skeptical of reps’ knowledge of future products, but this guy didn’t miss a beat when I asked about the 945. If he didn’t know what I was talking about, he didn’t act like it. I asked about battery life because I said I was disappointed with the Fenix 5 Plus’s ~16 hours and he said he didn’t have the specs. They usually don’t get them till a few weeks before release. He did say it would look more like the Fenix 5 than the 935 did, but again, this guy could have totally been blowing smoke up my @$$.
That would be the right timing.
let’s hope he wasn’t getting his models/versions mixed up.
