STRAVA Adds (Back) Chronological Feed

STRAVA has just rolled out a new feature. It’s so new that even my Summit Accounts haven’t been given it yet. So you might have to wait a while for it to be rolled out across the full STRAVA user base.

Feed Order

You can change the priority and order of activities that appear in your feed of other people’s stuff. Essentially there are two options PERSONALISED and LATEST. Whichever you choose, it will only apply from NOW.

  • Latest – Gives  you nice chronological ordering
  • Personalised – Lets STRAVA orders your stuff for you in some way that really is best for you. STRAVA know what’s best for you.

But whichever of those you choose, STRAVA will still put your favourited athletes’ stuff nearer to the top of the feed

Make The Change

You can enable this on either mobile or desktop versions of STRAVA, if you change it on MOBILE it also affects DESKTOP and vice versa. Like this

  • Mobile >  Profile > Settings (gear icon) > Feed Ordering.
  • Desktop> (profile picture), Settings > Display Preferences > Feed Ordering.

Not appearing?

Firstly the YOU and CLUBS feeds don’t change in any case.

My the5krunner account is a standalone account and so this change won’t affect that, however, my personal account is also a Summit account and should be showing this new feature. But it’s not. I’m going to try and force-upload a workout and see what happens. Good luck.

  1. Is there a way to stop all the notifications of followers joining a challenge or clubs?

This gets to the top of the feed esp during the last week of the month and I don’t really care who signed up AGAIN this month for another 5k, 10k xK, biggest hamburger ride, most bugs on cycling glasses etc .

Maybe Strava can automate this – if one DID complete the 330.05m crawl challenge in support of the Corona researchers rather put a small (1 pt font) mention on the activity?

  2. I couldn’t believe my eyes, when I saw the release notes of the latest Strava update. This has been driving me (and others) crazy, especially when you tend to bulk upload on a weekly basis. I’m ot a big fan of Strava but kudos to them (as pretty much the only social media platform) to actually listen to their user base.
Now if only I could get rid of “suggested athletes” once and for all. There’s a reason I don’t follow everyone and their moms, no point in shoving them into my face daily.

    1. They could perhaps remove the ‘give summit’ button from the top of every page. I have summit, but I’m not about to start giving it to friends or randoms. Ever.
