4iiii and Quarq Price Drops

4iiii Discounts on Power Meters, Quarq follows?

Yesterday 4iiii confirmed some permanent discounts on their crank-based power meters and, according to Cycling Weekly, Quarq have also got into the discounting game today with SIGNIFICANT cuts to DZERO DUB pricing (like $200ish less)

4iiii and Stages make the crank-based power meters that many cyclists start their power meter journey with and both are sound choices in their latest generation guise. 4iiii sells its product pre-installed only on Shimano cranksets (105, Dura-Ace, Ultegra, XTR) as well as offering a factory installation service for other brands’ cranks.

4iiii’s discounts have only really been made on their dual-crank PMs, as the single-sided 105 had already been aligned with Stages pricing a while back. Nevertheless, at a price of $299 for the single-sided 105, this makes 4iiii the joint-lowest priced PM on the market. At that sort of price, in my opinion, it’s risky and pointless considering saving a few tens of dollars for a startup’s products.

Heads-up: Code the5krunner10 makes this $30 cheaper ie $269.99, in the UK the Wiggle Platinum price is £263.

The dual-crank PMs are still a relatively expensive purchase as you are buying pods for both sides and, probably, either an Ultegra or Dura-Ace crankset. So the prices there start at around $600.

4iiii are playing a game of price-catch-up here. Not forgetting the built-in Chipolo tracker, the bigger news from 4iiii is the 3-year warranty. That shows they have confidence in their own product and gives the rider a significant piece of mind.

  1. No word about the accuracy problems on Shimano Ultegra and Dura-Ace cranks with right side crank based PMs?

“Piece of mind” is a nice one 😀

    1. Fair point.
      I have mentioned it elsewhere.
I’ve found the overall (total) power to be accurate to within claimed levels but, as you imply, the LR splits are unusual (actually I haven’t quite found what others have but your point stands)
