Garmin Forerunner 45 Plus
Looks like there is a Garmin Forerunner 45 Plus coming out in the very near future as Garmin is already teasing with the video below and some select retailers are already listing it. The Forerunner 45 Plus includes the basics like GPS, Garmin’s adaptive training, recovery time, race predictor, and the latest Garmin Elevate HR sensor. Smart notifications are still onboard as is the incident detection.
I’m not entirely sure what’s new other than the RACE PREDICTOR & RECOVERY. Remember that RACE PREDICTOR is one of the Firstbeat features that was used to replaced Garmin’s original race predictor and I found it to be reasonably accurate.
The Garmin Forerunner 45 Plus is coming in at an rrp of GBP140, if you can wait for a little while longer there might be something interesting and non-Garmin coming with vastly more features for just a little extra.
Via: @JohnK, many thanks.

On the video of 45+, we see « adaptativ training programs »
Garmin coach – generally for slower runners. i doubt it will be this https://the5krunner.com/2020/07/05/firstbeat-the-last-secret-metric-adaptive-triathlon-training/
At 0:27
yep, Garmin Coach is adaptive (from launch)
Ah yes.
Did the 45 have Recovery Time?* Also does this have intervals?
CIQ app support will be nice as the 45 only supported watch faces. Music will be nice as well but then they would have called it 45 Music.
*It sucks that Firstbeat has dummed down it’s website since the takeover.
music will require CIQ apps, like the 130+ i would have guessed this had ciq data fields but looks like i would have guessed wrong: https://buy.garmin.com/en-GB/GB/p/731641#specs
Or maybe you right? The bottom of the overview page and the specs page seem to contradict each other.
Taken from the overview page:
“Download custom watch faces, add data fields, and get apps and widgets from the Connect IQ Store.”
Maybe Garmin read the following and added in full app store support 😉
“It’s coming in at an rrp of GBP140, if you can wait for a little while longer there might be something interesting and non-Garmin coming with vastly more features for just a little extra.”
“APPS and widgets”, indeed. well spotted. let’s see
What’s the non-Garmin option you’re referring to in the article?
all leak and speculation are generally updated here to the extent that i can disclose them
https://the5krunner.com/2020/12/29/january-2021-sports-watch-update/
The watch came out last week. It’s available to buy in Argos. There is a video on YouTube with unboxing too
So Garmin is going to take advantage of it’s acquisition of Firstbeat by releasing Plus versions with a couple of additional Firstbeat metrics instead of releasing them as software updates?
Also, the release was probably derailed due to the ransomware hack.
yeah the info is all above, i think garmin may have scheduled a release adn then forgot to unschedule it during the ransom attack.
“if you can wait for a little while longer there might be something interesting and non-Garmin coming with vastly more features for just a little extra”
Y U DO DIS??
Well I know about market segmentation, but man this 150$ watch has vo2max and the 400$ instinct solar doesn’t..
