Shimano Deore Linkglide tech updates

This video from Shimano is worth a short and quick watch if you might be interested to see how their new Linkglide tech improves shifting on the rear cassette.

There are some quite incredible subtleties to the mechanical design of even simple things like individual gear cogs. For example, the new cogs from Shimano have widened and reshaped teeth and the ‘valley’ between the teeth is asymmetrical. Even on one specific ring, there are differences in the teeth, with some sections of the ring designed to be a ‘shift gate’ to ease shifting when under greater loads. Finally, the derailleur itself has a subtly changed movement for smoother shifting with fewer side to side movements.

Rating: “Quite Interesting”

The chain still looks very chain-like though!
