Kinomap buys Outside Interactive
Outside Interactive makes videos of running race routes. Runners and walkers can use these to either practice a course or participate in the race remotely.
I would imagine that race day simulation is a very limited market. However, perhaps the opportunity to virtually participate in the Boston Marathon without actually having to fly to Boston might instead appeal to many runners.
Either way, Kinomap likes what Outside Interactive does and maybe has plans to increase the scope to other kinds of routes or to other countries despite an apparently high level of cross-over between the offerings of the two companies.
Kinomap describes itself as ” The world’s largest geolocated video sharing platform, with thousands of videos from the best tracks worldwide. We pair to your equipment and respond to the inclines and resistance seen in the video on your screen.” As well as running, it also targets cycling and rowing.
