  Trainer and Stryd
Posted by: Kreisleriana - 05-12-2019, 09:11 AM - Forum: Suunto Spartan (All Variants - Trainer,Sport, Ultra) - No Replies

Hi
I am currently using a Suunto Trainer and Stryd footpod, which I originally used as my only training guidance.
Once I started trying to figure out my heartrate zones, I noticed that a) my heartrate is way higher than should be expected (I ran my last 10k race with an average of 181bpm over the last 20 min, with excursions into the low 200s; age just above 50  Big Grin).
I am sure I get cadence lock during the first 10 minutes but less so later on. One of the consequences is that the recommendations about recovery times are now WAY off. The watch can display time spent in zones for HR, pace and power separately, even in retrospect, but seems to always base the recovery recommendation on HR. Yesterday’s 15k in Zone 1 results in recommending 40h recovery time.

Maybe I am just the person for whom oHR on the wrist does not work all too well. The Polar OH1 and the Suunto smart belt would probably solve the problem of incorrect HR measurement but
1) Would the OH1 measure much better just because of the different location considering that it is still optical?
2) Is the Suunto Smart belt even a solution considering that it is Bluetooth and I already have Stryd occupying BT? I am NOT letting go my Stryd but I‘d still like to have reliable HR and not just a fancy curve.

Swapping the Suunto for a different watch is not completely unthinkable but I‘ll probably watch how the transition to the Suunto app pans out but it cant hurt to include a future migration into thoughts about the next move now.

Thanks for any comments and thoughts
Chris

  945 WHR
Posted by: tx911 - 05-11-2019, 10:21 PM - Forum: Garmin 745XT, 645 Triathlon, 945, 935 Plus - No Replies

I have noticed that the green WHR LEDs on the 945 stay on even when it's connected to an external HRM.

This differs from the 935, and seems like a waste of battery.

I this expected behavior?

  V650 + H10 + A370 doesn't work properly
Posted by: Pajassob - 05-05-2019, 08:29 AM - Forum: Polar V650 - No Replies

Hi,

I would like to ask if there is somebody who owns V650, H10 and A370. Always after syncing V650 which was used with H10 I will lose my A370 from Polar devices! This is so annoying. I need to do factory reset A370 and then it is added to my Polar devices again. But after syncing V650.... Again I will lose my A370 from my devices so I can't sync it and use it properly.

Am I the only one who has this problem? Now I have contacted Polar service in my country.

Vantage M keeping pausing when swimming
Posted by: swimrun46 - 05-05-2019, 07:33 AM - Forum: Polar Vantage M - No Replies

Hi there,

Anyone faced issues with the Vantage M pausing itself when swimming? I don't mean the automatic rest detection. It seems to start recording OK, then after a few strokes I feel it vibrate and it's gone and paused as if the lower left button had been pressed. This is intermittent, but really annoying as it's been really good when it behaves. Only seems to happen in the water.

Cheers

  Automatic laps
Posted by: Mutley40 - 04-27-2019, 03:56 PM - Forum: Polar Vantage V - Replies (1)

Hi, I am after a little advice. I did a 10k run yesterday where my automatic lap times do not add upto my overall time? Is there a reason for this. Is it because I used a slow 30 minute heart rate run at the beginning but then carried on the run? Any help would be great as I am trying to get the hang of this watch and need it to be as accurate as possible.

Regards

  Flow missing Recovery Status
Posted by: stevenvl - 04-27-2019, 12:31 PM - Forum: FLOW (web, iOS, Android) - No Replies

Hello,

In my Polar Flow there is no "Recovery Status" tab like there should be next to Activity.
Or does it come up after some time using it and loading up workouts?

Polar Vantage M/V custom target based workouts
Posted by: carozoynarizota - 04-27-2019, 04:59 AM - Forum: Polar Vantage V - Replies (2)

Hi! I'm Sebastián from Argentina.

I starded running with Polar S625x and then with an RS800cx. Workout creation for the last one specially was very customizable, the only thing bad with it is that you have to kept the watch in IrDA sync while doing your settings.

Polar RS800cx was the last model supported by Polar Personal Trainer software, discontinued with Polar RCX5.

Last year Stop button on my RS800cx began to fail,  tried to fix it without success so I get an M430 with an H10 chest strap. I use the watch alone for long/steady runs and the added H10 for phased workouts or in winter. I like this combination.

I really don´t stich into specific plans, nothing downloaded from the web nor local or remote trainer. I do my own mix week by week: 1 or 2 long runs (15 to 25km), 1 or 2 phased work outs, some short and easy runs to reach a decent amount of KMs if needed.

My phased workouts are based on pace targets, don´t like to get tied to zones. Something that can be done easily with RS800cx is not possible with M430 or V800 where you are tied to 5 fixed zones.

Does any one know if Vantage V/M models has the same limitations as the V800?

Thanks

Garmin 935 users, how have you maximized the use of your watch
Posted by: ericlanser - 04-22-2019, 06:34 AM - Forum: Garmin Triathlon - Replies (1)

Just picked one up and I've been playing around with it. Trying out some watch faces now and I'm curious how other people have set theirs up.
I'm currently running the sc8 watch face. I've only done one run on it and I set it up similar to my old 910xt. One my first page I have time of day, sunset, avg hr and avg spm. My main running page has time of run, distance, HR and lap pace. Interval page of lap distance, lap time, lap pace. Summary interval page of last lap time, last lap distance, last lap pace, last lap avg HR. I kept the garmin HR zone page just for fun.
Also, has anyone tried the fenix 5 quick Sarkari Result Pnr Status Showbox

fit straps on the 935? I know they're compatible but I've also seen mixed reviews. Basically since the 935 is a little smaller than the fenix I heard the straps can be uncomfortable when worn on the 935. I ordered a MUKO one from amazon just to test it.
