Hammerhead Karoo 3- first apps released – but where’s Ki2?
Hammerhead Karoo 3 supports 3rd party apps using a recent ‘Extensions’ feature and lets you install Android apps, providing they don’t require a Google Play Certified Device, as Karoo is not one of those. Older Karoo 2 apps will also work on Karoo 3
Hammerhead has just announced the first tranche of new apps, and I’ve reproduced the list below. Strangely absent from this list is Ki2, which I was expecting to be ready by now (edit: see comments; it is working – I briefly installed and paired it with my Di2. Yay!)
- Epic Ride Weather – https://www.epicrideweather.com – Epic Ride Weather provides personalized weather forecasts that consider your speed and location, combining multiple forecasts to give you a precise weather projection for the duration of your ride.
- GiBLI Tech Inc. – https://giblitech.com – GiBLI Tech makes real-time aerodynamic sensors to help cyclists and triathletes reach their ultimate performance potential.
- hDrop Hydration – https://hdroptech.com – hDrop provides real-time sweat monitoring, delivering instant data on sweat loss, rate, and electrolyte levels.
- HR2VP by BIPR – https://bipr.fr/ – HR2VP is a multipurpose cycling app that estimates power based on heart rate and broadcasts to your bike computer.
- myWindsock – https://mywindsock.com – myWindsock provides insightful weather data to the sporting community with signature Iconic Wind Lines.
- VinApp – https://www.instagram.com/vinapp_ciclismo – VinApp and Vin-HKE offer various solutions for the Karoo. From custom alerts to colour data fields and workouts, you can utilize Vin Extensions to maximise your Karoo.
Ki2 IS ready and working since at least January! I guess they just don’t want to put it on there official website 😁 Just go to https://github.com/valterc/ki2 and sideload it like any other app for the Karoo.
Other great Extensions, that they did not list (yet):
https://github.com/lockevod/Karoo-KDoubleType
Displays two datafields in place of one

Weatherforecast and wind direction data fields
blimey!
thank you Frank
wahoo needs some more wind (forecast) direction data fields too
Alternatively just switch to SRAM RED AXS. No big deal, right?
maybe not big, but certainly expensive.
there’s also new airline rules requiring batteries to be moved from bikes transported by air…SRAM makes that easier too.
This device is tempting me more and more.
I expect no “real world” difference versus my Roam v2, but the excitement of having something to fiddle with is difficult to repulse.
*Difficult to push back, sorry
