Likely Dates: Garmin Tactix 8, Quatix 8, D2 Mach 2, Descent MK4i

Each new Garmin Fenix series is followed by a slightly modified set of models tuned to the specific needs of the marine, drive, aviation, tactical and dive markets. This happened to both the Fenix 7 Series and the Fenix 7 Pro Series, and there has just been a new Fenix 8 series.

The Fenix 7 Pro round of updates to Tactix et al incorporated AMOLED technology over MIP. Whilst the Fenix 8 retained a MIP option, that is unlikely in the upcoming Fenix 8 derivatives.

A second trend in Garmin serving these markets is the creation of cheaper models based on Instinct and Venu eg D2 Air X10 (2022) is based on Venu 2 Plus (2022), Descent G1 Solar is based on Instinct 2 Solar

All of these models are mirrored by super-premium MARQ editions, which tend to be slightly older/late Fenix models in premium materials.

  1. too many models, Apple 3 models (Ultra, Watch, SE) and it trusts the wearable market since years

it’s a nightmare for the customer to choose the right watch

and after some years, it is a nightmare for Garmin in terms of product support “software quality”

    1. i reply to myself, yes i can 🙂

      most of my mates, use FR245, FR255, FR955 or equivalent, Venu 2, Venu 3, Fenix 5/6/7 …

      or

Suunto : 9 Peak Pro, Race
Coros : Pace 3, Apex 2 Pro, Vertix

      No Apple watch, sorry 😉
