Likely Dates: Garmin Tactix 8, Quatix 8, D2 Mach 2, Descent MK4i
Each new Garmin Fenix series is followed by a slightly modified set of models tuned to the specific needs of the marine, drive, aviation, tactical and dive markets. This happened to both the Fenix 7 Series and the Fenix 7 Pro Series, and there has just been a new Fenix 8 series.
The Fenix 7 Pro round of updates to Tactix et al incorporated AMOLED technology over MIP. Meanwhile, the Fenix 8 retained an MIP option, which is unlikely in the upcoming Fenix 8 derivatives.
A second trend in Garmin serving these markets is the creation of cheaper models based on Instinct and Venu eg D2 Air X10 (2022) is based on Venu 2 Plus (2022), Descent G1 Solar is based on Instinct 2 Solar
All of these models are mirrored by super-premium MARQ editions, which tend to be slightly older/late Fenix models in premium materials.
