Every Garmin Product From 2025: My favourites and my passes
2025 must be Garmin’s busiest-ever year for new releases, and judging by the financial figures that Garmin released for the first three quarters, 2025 will also be its biggest and most profitable year.
Let’s start with a reminder of the launches this year. I’ll include the hiking and wellness products but omit most of Garmin’s aviation, automotive, and marine products that don’t normally fit the topics covered on this site.
It’s a big list. Sorry!

Garmin Product Themes, 2025
Many trends continued from earlier years, and others began. Here are some themes to note.
- AMOLED – these displays are Garmin’s de facto choice, but reasons remain in some areas to go for MIP or Transmissive LCD touchscreen alternatives
- Elevate 5 – Still not used on every new watch.
- Synaptics GNSS – Probably used on every Garmin device; however, there is a combination of dual frequency (L1+L5) and single frequency chipsets, both supporting multiple constellations
- Prices are only going one way, and that’s up. Sometimes there are pretty significant jumps, sometimes more modest. If it’s 2-3 years since the previous generation, a considerable price rise should be taken in the context of relatively high inflation; connectivity and integration are givens.
- Solar – Seems to remain niche but with a future.
- microLED – A new screen tech. the shape of things to come
- Satellite – A new communications tech for wrist watches. the shape of things to come
- Index Sleep – An armband format. the shape of things to come
Thoughts on future trends are here. As are thoughts on Elevate 6.
My Favourites
Garmin’s 2025 products have stretched my feelings in lots of opposing directions. On the one hand, the sheer volume is exciting, as is the introduction of new tech (Synaptics GNSS and microLED). When I step back to see what I like, the list is very much shorter. Very.
These are my favourites.
- Garmin Forerunner 970 – obviously the best triathlon watch, just don’t try panning and zooming on the maps.
- Garmin Venu 4 – A decent smartwatch, but not as smart as Apple Watch Ultra 3 or Google Pixel Watch 4
Yikes.
Here’s why some don’t make the list.
- HRM 600 – should be the best chest strap ever, but it has usability issues. Mine has already started misreading HR and misread HRV from the get-go. Chatting with @fellrnr, he notes that the running dynamics are inaccurate. Apart from that, it’s a great product. Hmmm.
- Instinct 3 AMOLED – I know I’m going to annoy you by saying I love the AMOLED display on this one. It makes the product wearable from an aesthetic perspective. However, I just can’t say it’s good when it lacks maps at its price point.
- Fenix 8 Pro – I get that the satellite option needs and deserves an inReach subscription. Garmin’s solution here is only ever going to be niche as the Messenger service doesn’t adequately work to communicate to people outside the garmin ecosystem. It can never be an adequate underpinnign of smart features in its current form
- Venu X1 – loved by reviewers but not bought by consumers with the same degree of enthusiasm.
