Issue Index by Topic
Garmin Watches
- Forerunner 970 Random Vibrations with No Notification Behind Them — Pause and resume the activity; power cycle if vibrations persist.
- Forerunner 27.09 Firmware Bugs: FR165 Fixed, FR255 / FR265 / FR955 / FR965 Still Waiting — Hard reset clears it temporarily; FR165 fixed in 27.10, other models awaiting update.
- Fenix 8 HRV Dropping and Training Status Stuck on Strained Since Firmware 21.25 — Factory reset restores readings for some owners; persists into firmware 21.39.
- AMOLED Burn-in on Garmin Watches: Always-On Display Is the Deciding Factor — Disable always-on display or use a dimmed AOD face; existing retention cannot be reversed.
- Garmin Watch Stuck at 90 Percent or Refusing to Charge Cleanly — Firmware 21.20 (Fenix 8) or 14.18 (FR265/965) via Garmin Express; contact corrosion needs isopropyl cleaning.
Garmin Edge and Indoor Cycling
- Edge 1050 Sensors Not Reconnecting After Pause or Sleep — Power the Edge fully off at stops rather than using sleep mode; activity is preserved on restart.
- Edge 1050 Screen Blanking for a Fraction of a Second Mid-Ride — No confirmed fix across firmware versions; Garmin engineering is aware.
- Tacx ERG Mode Drifting Off Target Power Mid-Workout — Stay within 70 to 135 rpm; disable PowerMatch; update Neo 2T to firmware 2.7.0.
Sensors, Accessories and Safety
- HRM 600 Chest Strap Dropping Heart Rate and Respiration Data on BLE Secure — Switching to ANT+ stops dropouts at the cost of Running Economy and newer BLE-only metrics.
- Varia RTL515 Alerting Only Once Per Vehicle Stream and Firing False Positives After Stops — Treat the first beep as a cue to check the screen; restart false positives clear after 30 seconds.
- Garmin Live Track Failing on Race Day: The Link Expiry, the Contact Fault and the Frozen Position Fix — Remove and re-add contacts in Connect; enable Extend Live Track; check spam folder for the notification email.
- Garmin Incident Detection Firing False Emergency Alerts During Runs and Rides — Disable per activity type in settings; cancel within the 15-second on-screen window if triggered.
Garmin Connect, Apps and Software
- Connect IQ Data Fields Stuck in the Install Loop and Failing to Appear on the Device — Uninstall Garmin Connect, open the Connect IQ store app first, then reinstall Garmin Connect.
- Garmin Connect+ Nutrition Tracking: Specific Bugs and the Workarounds Owners Have Found — Enter food immediately after meals; barcode gaps persist outside the US.

- Garmin Open Water Swimming GPS Recording Wrong Distance or Drifting Badly During Triathlon Swims — Set 1-second recording and All Systems plus multiband; wait for solid GPS lock before entering the water.
- Garmin Strength Training Auto Rep Counting Wrong, Exercises Misidentified and Weights Overwritten — Use the watch for set timing only; log reps and weights in a dedicated app such as Strong or Hevy.
Third-Party Integrations
- Courses from Komoot and Strava Losing Turn Cues When They Sync to Garmin — Disconnect and reconnect the integration; use Plotaroute FIT export for reliable turn-by-turn cues.
- Spotify Made for You Playlists Syncing Empty to Garmin Music Watches — Copy playlist contents into a new ordinary playlist in the Spotify desktop app; that copy syncs correctly.
