Suunto had a little-reported announcement a week or so ago.
Something along the lines of, “Leading GPS sports watch manufacturer Suunto has today been confirmed as the Official Timing Partner to the Columbia Threadneedle World Triathlon Leeds.” 11-12 June 2016.
“So what’s that got to do with the AMBIT4 !” you cry.
A little bit. Maybe.
Last year Epson were a fairly big sponsor of the last Hyde Park Triathlon – the one that followed on from the Olympic course…sort of. And last year Epson were pushing their RUNSENSE range including a serious stab at optical technology.
So, for Epson, the two were almost certainly related. Sports sponsorship with a new watch promotion. It used to be called integrated marketing communications.
I fairly strongly imagine that Suunto are doing the same thing to support an AMBIT4 release.
Triathlons start soon. Watch out for the AMBIT4 in shops near you soon. Spartan?
Maybe.
