Basis Peak (Intel) have announced that 0.2% of their devices have a flaw which causes overheating. There have been reports of blistering and charging cradles melting.
Gulp.
Basis hope to remedy the issue with a firmware upgrade assuming, of course, that this is a software-fixable issue. To their credit they are offering refunds to those who do not want to wait for the issue to be resolved that way.
I guess these things do happen (Apple had similar problems), it’s a shame that it has happened to a credible device from an innovative manufacturer. Let’s hope they resolve it quickly for the benefit of the many PEAK users out there.
