Magene C606 and C506 get a notable feature boost in latest firmware update

Magene C606 & C506 Firmware Update: v1.953

Magene has just dropped a notable firmware update (v1.953) for its C506 and C606 bike computers, and I updated my C606 last night, so it’s ready for all to grab.

Beyond the new features, I also separately received a few pictures of Magene head units on X-Lab bikes, which implied Magene was sponsoring the UCI World Team XDS Astana. I might add those in below, later after a bit of checking.

Update (13 January 2026): Magene Joins XDS Astana Team as Official Partner

Products: C606 Pro Smart GPS Bike Computer, T500 Smart Trainer, L508 Radar Tail Light, H613 Heart Rate Monitor

What is New in Magene’s Firmware v1.953?

This information is taken from the official release notes and tidied up.

Smarter Climbing and Segments

  • Start Climbing Anywhere: The C606-exclusive climb planning now supports mid-climb entry. If you join a route halfway up a mountain, the device instantly recognises your position and updates distance and ascent data in real-time.
  • Refined Segments: Magene has improved the Strava Segment interface, fixing issues with reverse segment triggering and providing more straightforward prompts for KOM/PR gaps.

Enhanced Navigation and Control

  • Sharper Navigation: The map now features multi-colour track displays and sharper colour-coded routes. It adds configurable rerouting strategies and displays remaining distance and ride progress on the navigation screen.
  • In-Ride Adjustments: Added in-ride settings adjustment and improved auto-pause conditions.
  • Total Ride Control: Added a one-press screen lock, auto-start via speed thresholds, and auto-lap by location with customisable lap data.
  • Tunnel Mode: Optimised data calculation methods in tunnels.
  • Multi-Day Recording: A manual pause/resume function allows you to pause today and resume tomorrow.

Camera & Sensor Connectivity

  • Camera Control: Added smart control compatibility for Insta360 (X5, X4 Air) and DJI Osmo 360, which have built-in ride data overlays.
  • Sensor Management: Added sensor enable/disable functions and power source selection settings.
  • Radar Customisation: Added left/right configuration display for radar taillights.

Technical Data Upgrades

  • Power Metrics: Added 3-second average power data fields and Bluetooth pairing support for Magene P7 series power meters. Improved calculation logic for average power and cadence.
  • Drivetrain Integration: Includes SRAM electronic shifting gear ratio calculation and 13-speed electronic gear display adaptation.
  • Magene Shifting: Added double-tap and long-press command customisation for Magene electronic shifting.
  • System: Added support for the Czech language and Wi-Fi log transfer.

How to Update

Use OnelapFit App V1.8.2 (Android) or V1.8.3 (iOS). Connect your device via Wi-Fi for a faster log transfer and firmware download. I updated over Bluetooth, and it must have taken at least 30 minutes.

Final Thoughts

The more sophisticated rerouting, mid-climb detection and auto-lap by GPS position adds an extra layer of feature richness, which companies like Magene need to do to take their offering beyond a mere check-box approach that some companies are perhaps guilty of. Well-designed devices are the ones people love and ultimately recommend to others.
