Amazfit Update Policy Changes: Key Devices Get Extended Support
Zepp Health, the company behind Amazfit wearables, has quietly today updated its software support policy for several popular devices — extending their update lifespans by several months, averaging around an additional year. This marks an important shift from Amazfit’s traditional 2-year support window and will soften oft-repeated criticism about the brand’s short update commitments.
According to a recent report on Notebookcheck, Amazfit confirms more updates on the way to four wearables. Zepp has revised the end-of-life (EOL) timelines for key products, meaning owners can expect new features and security patches for significantly longer than previously stated.

What’s Changed — Device Support Extensions
Most notably, Amazfit’s strategic products are getting a significant bump, I’m thinking here of the T-Rex 3 (an extra year) and Helio ring (an extra 8 months).

Looking Ahead
Several review sites, including this one, praised Amazfit for its low prices and extensive feature set. However, many of those features need more time to mature.
It seemed that the company had an artificially low update timeframe promise and that this was geared toward selling hardware upgrades a year or so after purchase.
Perhaps Amazfit noticed these criticisms and perhaps also saw the negative impact of similar criticisms levelled against market leader Garmin.
Whatever the case, Amazfit has made a small but potentially significant move that this site, and likely others, strongly supports.
Now all we need are some newer watches from them! Judging by past records, we won’t have to wait long.

Does Garmin have an official EOL for its products? My 955 got a bug-fixing update last month, 3 years and 7 months after launch.
I doubt “old gen” Amazfit watches will get all the new features, but time will tell. It would add great value to already cheap watches.
Hi, Garmin doesn’t have public lifecycle policy …
Amazfit have done a huge work since the launch of the T-Rex 3, all latest products are aligned/synced in terms of software development.
Active 2 / Bip 6 / Max / Balance 2 / T-Rex 3 / T-Rex 3 Pro
Older gen doesn’t seems to be concerned (in terms of new features, improvements).
the current ‘hot’ topic for garmin uses is that they’re spending $1000 on a new watch only to find 18-24 months later it no longer gets the latest major features even though the hardware is capable of supporting it.
amazfit was viewed similarly albeit at much lower price points. @SoCorsu ads more detail.
Garmin Forerunner 965 came in march 2023, and receives uptades regularly. The latest update came recently.
the wider issue people have with garmin is that their expensive watches do not get new major features after a shortish period when the hardware is capable of supporting them. fixes do continue beyond.
Najlepsza polityka wsparcia jaką widziałem prowadził Coros – gdzie to starych zegarków dawał to co się da. Dziś nie wiem jak to jest i czy taką politykę jeszcze zachowali? Pozdrawiam
Amazfit Balance 2 has hit the market in 2025. Therefore it is a stupid nonsense that its original two year support period ends in 2025.
Many other news sites distributed this bullshit as well.
I’ve changed the table headings, my original was not clear. i’ve also added in the other amazfit products. this is correct info
the table has data directly from amazfit
