Any hilariously named product has to be from either 4iiii or WAHOO. This time it’s the turn of 4iiii with an announcement today for a dual-sided, dual-band, crank-based power meter with Q1.2018 availability firmed up/announced in January

4iiii always seem to add an innovative twist or two and this announcement is no exception

• Rechargeable battery with an average battery charge life of 60 hours (Down from the previous coin cell design)

So we’ve got good accuracy and if you read below you will see that the PM falls over to single-sided mode I the event of a failure of the other side (eg flat battery). I’d always wondered if any product could do that. There are probably more but I don’t know them.

With dual/single-sided pricing of $749/$349 then they’re competitive. Personally I’d always go for the flexibility of pedals but these 4iiii babies look like the more accuracy-minded amongst you might not follow my route.
