All four watches share the 51mm case size and the 1.4-inch 280 x 280 display. The site’s sports watch battery life guide explains what the solar figures assume.
Upgrading from Enduro 3
Enduro 3 owners should keep their watch. Enduro 4 has the same battery life, case, display, sensors, and GPS, and the changes are Garmin Epic, grade-adjusted pace-based workouts, rolling pace, rucking workouts, perspective view maps, and 64GB of storage. Garmin has said the Epic and rucking and rowing updates will carry over to existing watches, so some of that list may arrive on Enduro 3 via update. The detail is in Enduro 4 vs Enduro 3: what’s new.
Upgrading from Enduro 2
Enduro 2 owners already have maps, music, multi-band GPS, and Training Readiness, which leaves little reason to upgrade. The features they would gain arrived with Enduro 3. Course Planner sets cut-off times, rest plans, and aid stations for a race; dynamic round-trip routing builds a loop of a chosen distance; and the ECG app, rucking, and Running Tolerance are all new to them. Enduro 4 then adds Garmin Epic for multi-day efforts and workouts that follow grade-adjusted pace.
Solar is where the battery changes. GPS recording rises from 150 hours to 320 hours with solar, and smartwatch life from 46 days to 90 days. Without solar, the gain is smaller, at 120 hours against 110 hours, and Enduro 2 lasts longer in multi-band mode, at 68 hours against 60 hours. Enduro 4 is 4g lighter, has double the storage, and is covered by security updates until October 2028, while Enduro 2’s coverage ended in August 2024. The Enduro 2 review covers what that watch still does well.
Upgrading from Enduro
Owners of the original Enduro get a different kind of watch. Enduro 4 adds preloaded TopoActive maps with NextFork and Up Ahead, where the original follows a breadcrumb line. It adds music, Wi-Fi, multi-band GPS, a touchscreen and a flashlight. Training Readiness, HRV Status, wrist-based running power, Course Planner, and the ECG app are all missing from the original.
GPS battery life rises from 70 hours to 120 hours, and from 80 hours to 320 hours with solar. The original lasts longer as a smartwatch without solar, at 50 days against 36 days, and its titanium version is 5g lighter at 61g. The original Enduro review has the background.
Buying an Enduro now
A new buyer chooses between Enduro 4 at £799.99 / $899.99 and Enduro 3, which Garmin’s UK store sold for £699.99 in October 2026. Enduro 3 has the same battery, maps, Course Planner and ECG app. Enduro 4 adds new features, double the storage, and two more years of security updates. Athletes who want phone calls, diving or satellite messaging on a solar watch should read Enduro 4 vs Fenix 9 Pro Solar, and the wider range is covered on the Garmin hub.
