Expert opinion
Enduro 4 gives ultra runners and multi-day hikers Garmin’s full set of trail features in a watch that does not need charging during the event. Course Planner sets the cut-off times, rest plans and aid stations for a race, Up Ahead and NextFork show what is coming on the trail, and grade-adjusted pace based workouts and rolling pace set targets that account for the hills. Garmin Epic collects a multi-day effort into one view, and the watch also has the ECG app, Training Readiness, Endurance Score and preloaded TopoActive maps with perspective view. The battery is rated for 36 days as a smartwatch, or 90 days with solar, and for 120 hours of GPS, or 320 hours with solar, in a 66g watch with a built-in flashlight. It has no phone calls from the wrist, no dive features and no satellite messaging, all of which Fenix 9 Pro Solar has, and it comes in one large 51mm size.
