#2 Regulatory Filing: Week Ending 14 October 2026
This is a weekly roundup of new regulatory filings from the sports watch and sensor brands this site covers. A filing shows that a product exists and is close to sale. Each entry gives the regulator, the model number, what the record reveals and how firm the evidence is.
Other sites push out an alert for every filing the moment it appears. This roundup gathers the week into a single read and keeps your inbox clear. The weekly Deep Dive Digest email covers the wider sports technology news for those who want it.

The most significant filing of the week is Garmin model 05242, which the FCC approved on 13 October with LTE-M cellular and satellite radios in a body-worn device. Garmin also has a second unnamed model, A05196, at the Indonesian regulator, and Suunto’s HR264 heart rate monitor has reached a third market. The Bluetooth SIG listings for the newly launched Approach S72 identify the two Garmin models that the FCC approved last week.
Garmin
Model 05242
The FCC granted approval to Garmin International for FCC ID IPH-05242 on 13 October 2026, following applications dated 29 September. The record describes a portable digital transceiver worn on the body and lists LTE-M cellular test reports for bands 2, 4 and 12, a test report for a non-terrestrial network (satellite) module, and licensed satellite transmission at 1626.5 to 1660.5 MHz and 2000 to 2020 MHz. It also lists Bluetooth, Bluetooth Low Energy, ANT, 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi and a 13.56 MHz radio of the kind used for contactless payment. Exposure was assessed for the head and for an extremity, and photographs and the user manual are withheld until 11 April 2027. Indonesia’s Komdigi is reported to have certified the same number, written as B05242, on 9 October as a Garmin “Outdoor Product”, and the UAE regulator was reported to have approved A05242 on 5 October, as noted in the previous issue.
This is the first record to show what A05242 is: a wrist device with its own mobile data connection and satellite messaging, so that it can send messages or location without a paired phone and beyond mobile coverage. That combination places it in Garmin’s premium outdoor tier rather than among its running or mid-range watches. A head exposure test is usually carried out when a device can be held near the face, which suggests, as an inference, voice calling. Three regulators within nine days point to a launch within weeks rather than months. Athletes considering a current Garmin with LTE or inReach messaging have good reason to wait for this announcement. Its sibling A05240, seen in Korea and the UAE, has not yet reached the FCC.

Model A05196
Indonesia’s Komdigi is reported to have certified Garmin model A05196 on 12 October 2026 and to list it as a Garmin “Outdoor Product”. The entry gives no product name and no technical detail, and no FCC record for 05196 appeared on Garmin’s grantee page when it was checked on 14 October.
Garmin applies the “Outdoor Product” label in Indonesia to watches and handheld devices alike, so the entry does not identify a product family. The number sits between the 05146 pair, now known to be the Approach S72, and the 05240 pair, so it is a current-generation device. Athletes should treat it as a real but unidentified Garmin product until an FCC record shows its radios.
Evidence: Reported, not independently checked. The regulator is Komdigi (Indonesia) and the model number is A05196. Source: sertifikasi.postel.go.id, reported from around the web
Suunto
Model HR264, a heart rate monitor
The UAE’s Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority is reported to have approved Suunto model HR264 on 12 October 2026 and to describe it as a heart rate monitor. The same model was registered in Korea under reference R-R-SUU-HR264 on 2 October, and a Suunto heart rate monitor was recorded in Singapore on 30 September. The UAE entry is not reported to add a product name or technical details.
A third market inside a fortnight shows that Suunto is preparing a broad release of a new heart rate sensor, probably alongside the Race 3 and Race 3S watches that have been passing through regulators since the summer. None of the records yet says whether HR264 is a chest strap or an armband. Suunto watch owners who are about to replace a strap may wish to wait a few weeks.
Evidence: Reported, not independently checked. The regulator is TDRA (UAE) and the model number is HR264. Source: tdra.gov.ae, reported from around the web
