Expert opinion
The Instinct Crossover AMOLED is technically accomplished and has an original design with mechanical analogue hands sitting over an AMOLED display. At $649.99, the premium over the standard Instinct 3 AMOLED rests entirely on that hardware differentiator, with nothing else in the specification to account for the gap.
The Crossover AMOLED is the only watch in the current Instinct 3 range with a sapphire crystal lens. The internal RevoDrive gearbox automatically detects and recalibrates the analogue hands after impacts. The LED flashlight and multi-band GNSS with SatIQ are both new relative to the original Crossover. Battery life is shorter than that of the standard Instinct 3 AMOLED, at 14 days in smartwatch mode (versus 18 days on the 45 mm), due in part to the analogue mechanism. There is no touchscreen; all navigation is via the five-button layout.
Predecessor: Instinct Crossover (2022)
The original Instinct Crossover launched in November 2022 with a monochrome MIP display (0.9-inch, 176 × 176 px), single-band GNSS (GPS, GLONASS, Galileo only), no LED flashlight, a chemically strengthened glass lens, 64 MB of memory, and a 28-day smartwatch battery. It used the same analogue hand concept with RevoDrive technology. GBP pricing at the time of the AMOLED launch was £289.99 for the standard edition, which included Solar and Solar Tactical variants. The AMOLED replaces the MIP line as the current Crossover model.
