Expert opinion

The Band 10 is Huawei’s entry-level fitness tracker: solid everyday health tracking at a budget price, with no standalone GPS to show for it.

It tracks activity, heart rate, SpO2, stress and sleep through the Huawei Health app, including sleep-stage analysis and heart-rate variability. The 1.47 inch AMOLED touchscreen, Bluetooth 5.0 and a 9-axis IMU plus optical heart-rate and ambient-light sensors sit in an aluminium alloy or polymer case, with no onboard GNSS, so outdoor route and distance tracking rely on a connected phone. Huawei quotes up to 14 days of battery life under light use, with shorter endurance when continuous monitoring and the always-on display are active. Its 5 ATM rating covers swimming and similar shallow-water activity, not diving, and as with any wrist sensor, the health readings are estimates rather than clinical measurements.

What’s new versus the Band 9

Hardware

  • Case weight rises to approximately 15g (aluminium alloy case) from the Band 9’s 14g; the polymer case is unchanged at 14g
  • Case footprint is effectively unchanged: 43.45 x 24.86 x 8.99mm, against the Band 9’s 43.45 x 24.54 x 8.99mm
  • Display, resolution and pixel density are unchanged: 1.47 inch AMOLED, 194 x 368 pixels, 282 PPI

Software

  • Average sleep HRV (heart rate variability) added; not listed among the Band 9’s sleep metrics
  • Emotional Wellbeing Assistant added as a new feature; the Band 9’s feature list has no equivalent
  • Swim tracking is reframed as AI-powered stroke recognition; Huawei’s equivalent Band 9 feature is listed simply as “Accurate Swim Detection”, with no stroke-recognition or accuracy claim
