Expert opinion
tfk prefers Roam 3’s display to Garmin’s, while noting others may not agree. The touchscreen works reliably dry but frequently fails to respond when wet, whether on bare skin or with gloves. The digital bell cannot be assigned to a Di2 shifter button, an omission he calls significant given the hand movement otherwise needed to ring it mid-ride. Wahoo’s marketing claim of a 58% larger screen compares Roam 3 to ROAM 1 rather than the immediate ROAM 2 predecessor; the real increase is from 2.7in to 2.8in.

Battery life
Wahoo claims up to 25 hours. Recorded battery data in the FIT file is frequently misreported, so figures below are testing-derived.
| Mode | Battery life |
|---|---|
| Auto-backlight, typical riding | 15 to 20 hours in testing |
| Stationary, GPS recording, features disabled | Up to 49 hours in a non-riding test, showing the ceiling once backlight and connected features are stripped out |
Features
Roam 3 runs on the Wahoo app rather than the older ELEMNT app. Full feature detail is covered on the Wahoo hub.
