London Duathlon 2014 Results LD14 – Age Group Team GB Qualifier Standards? Spreadsheet

London_Duathlon_-_holder_logo[1]I have produced a spreadsheet of London Duathlon results in previous years and, for some age groups, I indicated whether your performance might have been equivalent to one that would get you a GB Age Group place in one of the duathlon distances.

  • The Super Sprint at LD14 is equivalent(ish) to the standard SPRINT Distance Duathlon
  • The classic distance at LD14 is directly equivalent to a STANDARD Distance Duathlon.
  • The Ultra at LD14 may have relevance to the Long Distance Duathlon.

Here is the London duathlon 2012 Spreadsheet Results (sorry subsequent years are not in an appropriate format)

For example I had some correspondence with R Elstone (AG50-54) who wondered if he would be able to qualify for Team GB…I assured him he WOULD most probably qualify and he went on this year to get a Bronze Medal at the European Sprint Distance Age Group Duathlon Champs !! Cool.

Basically you have to finish within 120% of the Age Group winner’s time. (115% for World Champs). Generally, the 20 slots per age group go to the best scoring qualifiers usually over 3 events but with some places filled by National/European/World Champions and highly placed finishers at the previous year’s international event.

There are more Team GB qualifers next month….use that fitness you already have eg the sprint duathlon at Althorp. Here is a full list of CURRENT qualifers (2014/2015) and the LATEST LIST FOR NEXT YEAR’S qualifiers (2015/2016/17). Look carefully at both, the dates are confusingly presented but correct AFIK.

You mad Ultra people may already have qualified !! If your result from LD14 is good enough it will most probably be acceptable for you to qualify for the Powerman European/Long Distance Duathlon champs which from memory are in Horst, Holland next Spring. Super Cool.!!!!!! There are no formal qualifier races and a qualifying standard is required for ‘an appropriate’ event. LD14 IS for sure appropriate.

I am keen to promote our sport – any questions on this subject please ask.

If you are close to the required standard look at my coaching services, for sure I can increase your performance by next Spring.
