Entries open at midday today for IRONMAN® Weymouth and IRONMAN® 70.3® Weymouth, which will both take place on Sunday 11 September 2016.
With demand for racing in the UK at a record high, athletes are encouraged to enter early to secure their place in these two newest and exciting additions to the IRONMAN events calendar.
With the choice of either an IRONMAN or 70.3 on offer, the 2.4 or 1.2 mile swim will take place in Weymouth Bay, against the stunning backdrop of the Jurassic Coastline. The 112 or 56 mile bike course will offer speed, hills and the charm of the Dorset Countryside. The 26.2 marathon or 13.1 half marathon multi-lap run will take athletes around the town, harbour and the historic Weymouth seafront, which was host sailing venue for the 2012 Olympic Games.
This the first time in Europe that both an IRONMAN and an IRONMAN 70.3 race are held on the same day and promises for some exciting racing, showcasing some of the best Dorset has to offer in this stunning West Country County.
There will be 30 qualifying slots to both the 2017 IRONMAN World Championship in Kailua Kona, Hawaii, and the 2017 IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship in Chattanooga, Tennessee, USA. However there will only be a race for Professional athletes at IRONMAN 70.3 Weymouth, competing for a total prize purse of $15,000 USD, with the race also offering P-500 KPR points.
