Shimano (the bike bits people) acquires Lazer (the helmet people)

Shimano
Shimano

An interesting acquisition of Lazer (helmets) by Shimano was announced today.

Shimano, we all know, do bike bits but not everyone is quite so aware that they also own clothing brands like Pearl Izumi.

So the two companies seem to have complementary product ranges.

As the products will generally be sold in the same kind of shop then Shimano’s presumably superior and more extensive distribution network will also benefit Lazer helmets. I would imagine that Shimano-brand helmets might start appearing, although that is not certain as Lazer is a fairly strong brand already in certain segments.
