STRYD have just announced an important firmware upgrade for those of you who have WALK/HIKE sections of trail runs.
Even in competitive trail events there are sections where walking may be more efficient than running, such as on very steep gradients. Previously STRYD did not produce power on walk sections. There is now a firmware enhancement to enable that.
The new feature is termed ‘Power Hiking’ and firmware can be upgraded by the instructions here: link to STRYD.com.

It doesn’t state it explicitly, but will this firmware update apply to a recorded “Walk” like the mode found in Garmin Devices? I mean I’ve done long walks and used it and gotten results. I’m just wondering with the firmware update if now it picks up on finer points when the whole thing is a walk.
don’t know tbh. and likely i wont be ale to test it.
i would guess NO would be the answer and that it is looking for more significant vertical movements rahter than the more horizontal movements (of the pod) from flat walking….could be wrong.
