Suunto Firmware Update
Today Suunto has added Track Mode, new map styles and a host of new data fields to display on your Suunto Race, Race S, or Vertical watch. Older 9-Series models do not have the update.
The standout addition is TRACK mode, which, in my opinion, is somewhat of a ‘coming of age’ moment for any running watch. Implementing this feature is relatively challenging and may only be beneficial to a minority of runners. However, it usually indicates that a whole host of quality running features are already on the watch – if your running watch has TRACK mode, it’s going to be a highly featured watch.
I also appreciate some attention being given to the ZoneSense feature. ZoneSense is a uniquely native feature of Suunto that utilises HRV from a chest strap as you run to continuously assess your heart rate zone as you fatigue, helping you spend more time in your optimal physiological zone. Very Clever.
Swim Rest Time and Forecast Wind are useful for pool swimmers and cyclists respectively and I’m sure you might find one of the other new metrics useful too.
enjoy! These should come automatically over Wifi. If not, force an update from your watch Control Panel> Settings> General> Software Update.

It would have been nice that the swim rest time was a “current rest” rather than a cumulative for the whole session (which is kinda useless IMO)
Adding the track mode was mandatory, despite it being one of the most useless features on running watches – but as every other have this, they’re kinka forced to implement it…waste of manpower IMO 🙂
But I’m getting grumpy 🙂
i kinda agree.
I’ve always been grumpy.
Testing out the new live tracking today on my Suunto. It is pretty nice.
