Amazfit + Stryd: Tested. Accurate Indoor Pace for HYROX Racing
I’ve done lots of Hyrox training in the gym over the last year or so and have used Stryd for outdoor running for about a decade. It struck me as a little odd that Amazfit has the best native support for Hyrox with several dedicated Hyrox sports profiles for racing and training, yet is unable to accurately support indoor running pace. This all changed recently following the September 2025 announcement of a partnership between Stryd and Amazfit.
The Indoor Pacing Problem
HYROX competitions consist of eight 1km running segments alternated with eight functional fitness stations.
Most HYROX races take place in indoor arenas where GPS signals are degraded. Watches are often highly inaccurate at displaying an accurate pace derived from these signals or from internal accelerometers. Without accurate pace feedback, you can only rely on perceived exertion and, as you know, one of the secrets to success for Hyrox is consistent pacing throughout the entire event. The Solution: Stryd Foot Pod.

Stryd is a foot-mounted pod that measures running metrics via accelerometer and gyroscope rather than GPS satellites. It can be bought as a pair, but for Hyrox, you only need one. The 9-gram pod clips to shoe laces and measures stride length, ground contact time, vertical oscillation, and cadence. From these inertial measurements, Stryd calculates pace and distance in real time. It is as accurate indoors as it is outdoors. In my experience, it is more accurate outdoors than any GPS watch. It is the best solution for tracking pace during indoor HYROX competitions. If you want to be competitive in Hyrox, you need to either pace your running to an excellent standard whilst fatigued or use Stryd.
Alternatives: Other footpods exist. They tend to be very old models (10+ years) with old-gen accelerometers and inaccurate algorithms. None produces pace and running power.
Amazfit Integration Details
On February 9, 2026, Amazfit formally announced native Stryd integration for HYROX Race Mode, although it had already been available for several weeks. The integration is available on:
- Amazfit T-Rex 3 (firmware 4.3.8.2 or later)
- Amazfit T-Rex 3 Pro (firmware 4.3.8.2 or later)
During HYROX workouts, you don’t have to change any of the speed and distance metrics you previously used. Stryd is a new data source that feeds existing metrics. Stryd is also a power meter (probably the most accurate running power meter option), and for those of you familiar with training by power (e.g. cyclists and rowers), running power follows exactly the same principles. There are some new power- and running-form-related metrics that you might use outside Hyrox.
Calibration: Manual vs Automatic
All foot pods ship with a default calibration factor (1.00) that approximates average human biomechanics. Individual variation in running form, stride characteristics, and shoe type can cause measurement errors of 1-5% without calibration.
GPS Auto-Calibration (Not Available on Amazfit)
Garmin offers automatic footpod calibration for distance. During outdoor runs with clear GPS signals, these watches compare footpod distance to GPS distance. Over time, the watch adjusts the calibration factor to minimise discrepancies. This is convenient but has limitations: GPS accuracy itself varies (±5-10 meters per kilometre), GPS performs poorly on winding trails and under tree cover, and auto-calibration can introduce errors if GPS data is compromised.
With modern Garmin watches, autocalibration is normally sufficient.

Manual Track Calibration (Required for Amazfit)
Amazfit watches do not support GPS auto-calibration for Stryd. Athletes must perform a manual calibration using a known distance (e.g., a running track). While this requires additional effort, manual calibration provides superior accuracy because it’s independent of GPS errors. You should find that a modern footpod like Stryd, once calibrated, is accurate across a range of running paces, not just the pace used in the calibration.
Calibration run: Wear your pod on the laces in a position that will not interfere with a rowing ERG’s straps. Set calibration factor to 1.00, run 10 laps (4,000 meters) on the inside edge of lane 2 at your target HYROX race pace wearing your HYROX race shoes, then calculate your calibration factor using the formula: Actual distance ÷ Measured distance (e.g., 4,000m ÷ 3,920m = 1.020). Run 2,000 metres to validate. [Watch Settings → Workout Accessories → Stryd → Calibration Factor]
Other Factors
Expect accuracy of 99.5%. Bear in mind that you might run further than the race distance and that the race distance itself might be incorrectly stated.
Cost comparison:
- Amazfit T-Rex 3: $279 USD
- Stryd 4.0 or 5.0: $299
- Total system: $578 USD
- Garmin Forerunner 970 (with Stryd): $749.99 USD + $299 USD = $1049 USD
- Accuracy? – the same
Conclusion
Amazfit’s Stryd integration for HYROX Race Mode solves the indoor pacing problem that has plagued HYROX athletes’ performances since the sport’s inception. The system requires one-time manual calibration at a track (45-60 minutes), after which it provides consistent ±0.5% accuracy across most environments.
The lack of GPS auto-calibration is a limitation compared with Garmin and some other platforms, but manual track calibration gives definitive accuracy regardless of the brand. For HYROX athletes, the ability to monitor pace in real time during indoor competitions represents a significant performance advantage at a competitive price point.
Note: An ENTIRELY OPTIONAL subscription is not required by most and costs GBP8.75/mo when paid annually. For racing or training for HYROX, you don’t need a subscription, nor do you need two pods. You don’t even need a Stryd 5.0; a 4.0 is sufficient if you can find one for sale (be mindful of older second-hand units, as the battery may have degraded).

That half-cut screenshot and stryd supposed price is nasty. Stryd is only $199 with a mandatory monthly commitment of 15$, so effectively at least 90$ more.
no.
the subscription thing is entirely optional defintely not mandatory. i dont have the subscription. most people dont need it.
the prices are correct.
I’ll add a note about the optional subscription in the article
You have all over the article the price is $199, then if you actually click your link it is only $199 with subscription MANDATORY for 6 months. Without subscription the pod is $299
my bad. i will correct that.
I have an odd request but maybe you’ll consider
Can you publish a FIT file from the Amazfit + Stryd combo indoors without GPS?
Because Amazfit is one of those watches that makes incomplete FIT files unlike Garmin etc.
Their records on outdoors activities do not contain distance or speed from the GPS, just lat/lon points so it has to be calculated after
Wondering what they do with Stryd indoors, if they just record the speed + distance as reported by the Stryd
Even more odd question, will the Amazfit support the original Stryd with Wind, not the v4 or v5 but I think the v2 but you might not know the answer to that one or be able to test
amazfit dont yet have a fully mature stryd implementation. it’s fairly new.
amazfit watches dont out put FIT, the app does
i seem to rememebr there IS a sensor setting on the Amazfit where you set the stryd as the source of speed/distance. which i think gives you what you want indoors and outdoors?
the pod/wind thing is a red herring. i assume they are all supported its up to amazfit what metrics they choose to record from the various pods. later pods have more metrics.
so wind power is included in what amazfit reports (with the right stryd pod paired). whether or not you can break out wind power, form power and so on as separate metrics is just down to whether amazfit chooses to show or record that info (its total effect is there already). if you look on powercenter ALL the raw sensor dta will be there regardless of the watch you use
sorry waffling. hoepfully that helps.
