Supporter++ closes to new subscribers on 1 May. Lock in £20 now.

The £20 Supporter++ tier is closing to new subscribers on 1 May 2026. A new standard tier, Gold Supporter, takes over at £50 a year.

For those thinking about subscribing, the next two weeks are the moment. If you have been meaning to support the site and remove the ads, £20 for a year locks in that price at renewal for as long as you stay subscribed. After 1 May, the option goes.

Running the site costs a bit more than it used to, and the ad-free reading experience is the main thing subscribers tell me they value. Keeping that working means the price has to move, given the systemic fall in ad revenues across the industry. Gold Supporter does more than Supporter++, but the details of that are for another day. I have some exciting things planned. Well, I think they’re exciting.

For now, the free Follower tier continues and has been extended to a yearly renewal rather than a six-monthly one. The Follower tier gives me value because you sign up for the newsletter and are still shown some ads. It gives you value because in-body ads are removed, making for a cleaner reading experience for returning readers.
