Oura has filed a new patent complaint against Ultrahuman in the US District Court for the Eastern District of Texas, aimed at the redesigned Ultrahuman Ring Pro that returned to US sale this year.
- Oura announced the complaint on 23 October 2026 and says it asserts additional design and utility patents against Ultrahuman.
- Oura says Ultrahuman’s modified ring still uses many of its patented innovations and calls the claim that the redesign no longer infringes false.
- TechCrunch reports that the complaint names design patent D804,471 and utility patent 12,769,363, and also names SVTronics, which Oura says builds Ring Pro in Plano, Texas.
- The patent, issued to Ouraring Inc. on 20 October 2026, claims a ring with a curved battery, charging magnets, a circuit board along the band, and temperature, motion, and optical heart rate sensors.
- TechCrunch reports that Oura is seeking damages and a permanent injunction that would stop US sales of Ring Pro.
- The case follows the 2025 US International Trade Commission ruling that found Ultrahuman’s earlier ring infringed Oura’s patents and barred its import into the US.
What it means
Ring Pro remains on sale in the US while the case runs, as no court order affects it yet. A permanent injunction would take it off the US market again, as happened to the Ultrahuman Ring Air after the ITC ruling, so US buyers choosing a ring for sleep and recovery tracking face some uncertainty over future availability.
Oura’s own rings, including Oura Ring 5, are not part of the dispute. The best recovery tracker guide covers the alternatives.
