Installing and using a Connect IQ app
Each store link opens the Connect IQ Store app on your phone, where you choose Install and the app is sent to the watch. On the watch, it appears in the apps list, usually reached from the start button or the controls menu, and many apps can also be added as a glance or to an activity. Apps that show maps, routes or messages use your phone’s connection, so they need the watch to stay paired.
For the screens you see during a run or ride, see the data fields chart, and for music and podcasts, the music apps chart. Navigation apps such as komoot pair well with the maps on Fenix 8 and Forerunner watches.
Quick answers
What are the best Garmin apps?
At the end of October 2026, Women’s Health Tracking and Hydration Tracking led the Connect IQ Store’s app chart, followed by Garmin Connect Challenges and komoot. The table above updates on the first of every month.
Are Garmin Connect IQ apps free?
Most of the top apps are free, and some charge a one-off price or offer paid extras. The table shows the price of each.
How do I install an app on my Garmin watch?
Open the app in the Connect IQ Store app on your phone and choose Install. It is sent to the watch and appears in the watch’s apps list.
Is the Connect IQ Store app included in the chart?
No. The store’s own app is left out, because every Connect IQ install goes through it.
