Expert opinion
The Cheetah 2 Ultra pairs Grade 5 titanium and sapphire construction with improved GPS accuracy and extended battery life projecting 55 hours in full-accuracy mode in real-world testing. Trail Running mode, terrain load factor, and the Elevation Overview are exclusive to the Ultra and useful for serious trail runners.
GPS scored 85% on the standard 10-mile test, ahead of the Cheetah 2 Pro at 73% and behind the Coros and Garmin leaders. Optical heart rate returned five Excellent results and one Good across six test sessions, the Good coming in the hardest conditions. For road runners the feature set is identical to the Pro, and the Ultra justifies its premium through battery endurance, the larger 1.5 inch display, and trail-specific capabilities.
