Expert opinion
GPS accuracy on the dual-frequency chipset beat the Forerunner 965 and Apple Watch in an initial test covering tall buildings, tree cover and bridges, performed adequately but not the best of the group on a suburban grid test, and scored best on test through a dense urban route with tall buildings, aside from one long tunnel section. The standard 10-mile test returned a run-of-the-mill 75%. Heart rate accuracy was inconsistent with no clear pattern by activity type, and results were, if anything, worse than the older sensor on the original Race. The bezel loses the Race’s ridged texture for a smooth finish, and the digital crown is smaller and stiffer to rotate.
