Expert opinion
KICKR CORE 2 keeps the same 1,800W maximum power, 16% gradient ceiling, ±2% accuracy claim and 5.4kg flywheel as the original CORE, with the update limited to WiFi, Race Mode’s 10Hz data rate, and KICKR Bridge sensor bridging. The flywheel is not motor-driven, so descent and negative-gradient simulation are not available. Independent testing found readings running close to Wahoo’s claimed accuracy once drivetrain loss is factored in, though results vary by drivetrain condition.

What’s new versus the original KICKR CORE
Hardware
- WiFi added; the original CORE had Bluetooth and ANT+ only
- New leg design, bolted to the frame rather than the earlier fold-out mechanism
- Weight down from around 18kg to 13.6kg
- Power accuracy, maximum power, maximum gradient and flywheel weight are unchanged at ±2%, 1,800W, 16% and 5.4kg
Software
- Race Mode transmits power data at 10Hz over WiFi, or Bluetooth on Zwift, up from 1Hz
- KICKR Bridge relays a paired heart rate sensor’s data through the trainer, freeing a Bluetooth connection slot on the controlling device
- Automatic firmware updates over WiFi

Features
KICKR CORE 2 runs through the Wahoo app. Full feature detail is covered on the Wahoo hub.
Zwift Cog and Click bundle
- Zwift Cog replaces the rear cassette with a single cog that fits any geared bike, removing the need to swap or index cassettes
- Zwift Click provides virtual gear changes and in-game menu controls from the handlebars
- Cog and Click work only with Zwift; the 11-speed cassette version is required for other platforms
Sensor bridging
KICKR Bridge relays a paired heart rate strap’s data through the trainer’s own connection, reducing the number of separate Bluetooth pairings a controlling device needs to hold, which matters most on devices such as Apple TV that support only two Bluetooth connections.
