With over 6,500 IRONKIDS places available across 4 events in the UK, IRONMAN are encouraging youngsters aged 3 – 14 to step up to the challenge and give it a try.

Such has been the interest for entry into IRONKIDS, that organisers have doubled entry numbers to that of last year and IRONKIDS will be staged at all IRONMAN UK events in 2015.

Demand for racing IRONMAN (2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike and 26.2m run) is seeing phenomenal growth. With record sell out rates and up to 50% tackling their first IRONMAN, organisers are keen to support the whole family by encouraging kids to get involved and be part of the action too.

The development of IRONKIDS in the UK has been a key focus and last year saw over 3,000 teens and tots take part in one of the three races on offer, which are staged the day before the main IRONMAN event.

2015 will also see the introduction of an IRONKIDS event at the inaugural IRONMAN 70.3 Staffordshire. There will be no swim or bike element involved, the children will only be required to run between 500 metres and 2.5 kilometres according to their age.

The emphasis of IRONKIDS is very much about getting kids to have a go and to be part of a world class and iconic event, with a view to them wanting to continue to lead an active and healthy lifestyle. With a focus on fun, finish times will not be provided, but each child will receive a special commemorative IRONKIDS T-shirt in their entry pack and a medal after completing their run to celebrate their achievement.

2015 IRONKIDS events will take place at IRONKIDS Staffordshire (13th June), IRONKIDS Exmoor (27th June), IRONKIDS UK (18th July) and IRONKIDS Wales (12th September).
