SRAM Acquires TIME Pedals

Company: Time

In February 2021 SRAM announced the acquisition of the entire range of road and mountain pedals, cleats, and all related patents of TIME Sport from the Rossignol Group. The companies completed the deal last week on 18 Feb.

Greg LeMond & Miguel Indurain are both Time devotees. Despite Time’s pedigree with both road and MTB pedals, one can’t help but think that the future is going to see SRAM/PowerTap innovating further in the power meter pedal arena.

My view right now is that two of the ways forward for a startup power meter pedal product are COST and SHIMANO CLEAT compatibility. I’m not sure that SRAM has either of these in mind.

  1. I have extremely fond memories of Time criterium pedals and the white magnesium pro pedals when I was racing in the 1990s, it’s all I used.
