Shimano Sales – Up 45% In 2021
Shimano, Inc. reported sales in 2021 that increased by over 44% from the previous year to ¥546bn.
Operating income increased by almost 80% to ¥148m and net income increased 82.7% to almost ¥116m.
Thoughts
No doubt this is a result of the pandemic cycling boom and perhaps in part also linked to higher e-Bike sales and the sales of new R9200 groupsets.
Although perhaps there is an element of surprise as many of us are finding it increasingly harder to get hold of simple things like spare parts. Just think what Shimano could have done if they had decent inventories of spares to sell.
That said, some of the e-Bike spare parts are highly sought after as Czech distributor Bike Fun International found to their cost this week as €270k of Shimano e-Bike parts were stolen from a lorry after the driver was gassed (to sleep) on a rest break.
