Expert opinion
Garmin’s most fully featured mid-size bike computer of 2019, the Edge 830 refined the 820 rather than reinventing it. ClimbPro, which profiles each climb ahead on a route, and an on-device power curve stood out as genuinely useful to performance cyclists.
A faster processor cured the 820’s sluggish navigation, and the Sony GNSS chipset added five hours of battery life. Garmin Charge support suits long navigation days, and popularity routing runs on the device itself, alongside a touchscreen the Edge 530 lacks.
