Expert opinion
C706 is Magene’s flagship and its first computer with dual-band GNSS, spoken turn and climb prompts, and ClimbPro that finds climbs without a loaded route. It puts a 3.3-inch touchscreen and five buttons on the bars for GBP 239, about GBP 140 less than Garmin’s compact Edge 550.
Magene’s hardware has been consistently good in my testing of the C506 and the original C606, with accurate GPS and solid sensor support. The gap on every Magene has been software: navigation, menu logic and app depth. The C706 adds the hardware a navigating rider wants, and its value depends on how well Magene’s software uses it.
